Luxury vinyl is easy to live with when dirt, spills, and furniture contact are managed. Its protective finish is not a wood surface, and a waterproof plank does not protect everything beneath the floor.

Everyday cleaning
Sweep before mopping
Remove loose dirt with a soft broom or suitable hard-floor vacuum attachment. Pick up grit around entrances and chairs before it can grind against the surface under shoes or wheels.
Clean without leaving a film
Use the specified vinyl cleaner, correctly diluted, with a clean mop. Change dirty pads and water, remove any residue as directed, and let the surface dry before normal foot traffic resumes.
Clean spills and scuffs locally
Wipe spills promptly. Start shoe scuffs with a soft cloth and the approved cleaner rather than treating the whole room. Use a non-abrasive pad only when the care method permits it.
Prevent wear
Check mat backing
Choose non-staining mats compatible with vinyl. Rubber or latex backings can discolor some products. Check underneath mats periodically for trapped grit, moisture, or a change in color.
Spread furniture loads
Use broad, flat furniture protectors and suitable caster protection. Lift movable furniture. For appliances, arrange a protected route that supports the load instead of dragging or rolling directly across exposed planks.
Control concentrated sunlight
Use blinds or curtains where intense sun heats the floor. Keep the room within its permitted temperature range; ordinary cleaning will not reverse heat damage or fading.
What to avoid
- Soaking joints or treating a leak as harmless because the planks are waterproof.
- Steam, aggressive scrubbing, or added polish without explicit product approval.
- Sanding, abrasive powders, or dragging appliances to remove or hide a mark.
When something changes
- Sticky film or uneven shine
- Check for cleaner or polish buildup. Ask for the compatible removal method before using a stripper; different vinyl finishes can have different cleaning limits.
- Gouges or deep scratches
- A surface treatment cannot replace missing material. Save labeled spare pieces from the original batch and ask about localized replacement. A glued plank and a click-together plank require different repair access.
- Lifting, gaps, or movement
- Photograph the affected area and contact the installer. Moisture, heat, attachment, or support may need investigation before a piece is replaced or glued back down.
