Yes. Floors Now removed the old kitchen flooring before installing the new underlayment and gluedown LVT system.
After removal, Floors Now installed Ultraply underlayment and used Planiprep SC before adhering 265 square feet of Karndean Opus Terra SP212. The appropriate preparation varies with the conditions exposed after removal and the selected flooring system.
It can when the appliances, access, utility connections, floor height, and responsibilities are reviewed in advance. This New Britain project included moving two appliances for the kitchen installation.
Transition details depend on the floor-height change, adjoining surface, exposed edge, and selected flooring system. This project used a stair nose at the kitchen-to-landing edge, plus one reducer and one threshold or end cap. No flooring was installed on the landing or stairs.
Many LVT products are designed for residential kitchen use, but product-specific substrate, adhesive, moisture, temperature, installation, and care requirements still apply. A water-resistant flooring surface does not waterproof the room or subfloor.
