The problem
The plan was to replace the laminate in the bedrooms and hallways without opening up anything else — and the tile sitting underneath the laminate stayed exactly where it was. Laminate is often installed over an older floor, and pulling only the laminate layer keeps the removal simple and avoids disturbing what lies beneath.
Phase 1 covered about 650 square feet — the primary bedroom, two additional bedrooms, and the hallways — with Karndean Opus Rubra gluedown luxury vinyl plank installed in one workday. Running one product through the bedrooms and hallways gives the completed phase a continuous look while the rest of the house waits.
Phase 1 covered the bedrooms and hallways; the basement, kitchen, and living room are planned for Phase 2, completing the whole-home plan in two stages.
Project overview
These homeowners wanted brand-new floors for the first home they are building a life in together. In August 2026, Floors Now completed the first of two planned phases by removing laminate from the primary bedroom, two additional bedrooms, and the hallways while leaving the tile beneath in place. The crew installed approximately 650 square feet of Karndean Opus Rubra WP316 gluedown luxury vinyl plank in one workday. The basement, kitchen, and living room remain planned for Phase 2, and this project record can be updated when that work is complete.

Common questions
Existing tile. We removed the laminate from the three bedrooms and hallways and left the tile beneath in place, then installed the new gluedown LVP over the prepared assembly.

One workday. The laminate removal, the preparation over the tile left in place, and the gluedown installation across the bedrooms and hallways were all completed in a single day.
