Can floating LVP be installed directly over a basement slab?

It can when the slab is clean, dry, stable, sufficiently flat, and suitable for the selected flooring system. The product may also require a specific underlayment or moisture-control layer, and active water intrusion should be corrected before installation.

Can old laminate be removed before installing basement LVP?

Yes. Removal and disposal can be included in the agreed scope. Once the laminate is removed, the exposed surface should be checked for moisture, damage, residue, flatness, and other conditions that could affect the new installation.

Does every basement LVP installation need a moisture barrier?

Not automatically. The substrate, moisture conditions, flooring construction, underlayment, and manufacturer instructions determine whether a separate moisture barrier or another moisture-control system is required.

Can LVP be installed in a basement with a moisture problem?

Active leaks, seepage, drainage problems, and persistent dampness should be identified and corrected before installation. LVP may resist surface spills, but it does not repair water intrusion or protect the building assembly from an unresolved moisture source.

Does a basement slab need to be perfectly level for LVP?

Not necessarily, but it must meet the selected flooring manufacturer's flatness and stability requirements. Localized high spots, low spots, cracks, or damaged areas may need preparation even when the slab has a consistent overall slope.
