The problem
The old laminate in this basement was damaged, and moisture was a concern in the space. Laminate is particularly unforgiving in damp conditions — once the core takes on moisture and swells, patching or refinishing cannot bring it back.
The crew removed and disposed of the damaged laminate, installed a plastic moisture barrier with taped seams as part of the floor assembly, and floated about 450 square feet of COREtec Norwegian Maple luxury vinyl plank over it. Quarter-round and the specified transitions finished the perimeter and adjoining edges, and the work was completed in one full workday.
