The problem
The gym activity room carpet and men's restroom VCT in this Milford school were very old and ready for replacement. Flooring work began only after the underlying issues associated with prior water damage had been addressed — new flooring goes over dry, sound conditions, never over unresolved moisture problems. Once the space was cleared for work, the plan called for 826 square feet of Philadelphia Commercial glue-down broadloom carpet in the gym activity room and 139 square feet of Armstrong Standard Excelon Imperial Texture VCT in Grayson in the men's restroom.
The calendar was the real constraint: the installation had to happen outside school operations and meet a firm inspection deadline. A Floors Now driver collected the materials from the distributor the day before work began so the weekend wouldn't start with a supply run. The crew then worked Saturday and Sunday after hours — removing and disposing of the old carpet and VCT, skim coating the restroom substrate, removing and resetting the toilet, installing the new carpet with cove base and a vinyl transition, and finishing the restroom with new cove base.
The question was whether two rooms, two flooring systems, and fixture coordination could be completed between school weeks. They were: both spaces were replaced over the single weekend, returned to service, and the inspection deadline was met.

In July 2026, Floors Now completed an after-hours commercial flooring project in an unnamed Milford school where the gym carpet and men's restroom VCT were very old. After the underlying issues associated with prior water damage were handled, the installation was organized around a firm inspection deadline. A Floors Now driver collected the required materials from the distributor the day before work began to protect the schedule. Over Saturday and Sunday, the crew replaced 826 square feet of glue-down gym carpet with Philadelphia Commercial broadloom, installed new cove base and a vinyl transition, removed 139 square feet of restroom VCT, skim coated the substrate, coordinated the toilet removal and reset, and installed Armstrong Standard Excelon Imperial Texture VCT in Grayson with new cove base. Both spaces returned to service, and the inspection deadline was met.
