The problem
The finished-basement carpet had lost its fit, and the tack strip told the story: it had been installed too close to the baseboard molding, where it could not hold the carpet at proper tension. Carpet stays tight only when the tack strip grips the backing and holds it stretched — strip set in the wrong position lets the carpet relax and loosen over time.
The repair kept the customer's existing carpet in place. The crew installed 300 square feet of Tahoe 8-pound, 7/16-inch cushion with SpillGuard, corrected the tack strip placement with 60 linear feet of new strip at the proper distance, restretched about 272 square feet of carpet, and finished the edge with 15 linear feet of vinyl transition. The focused repair was completed in a few hours.
A restretch is a fit correction, not a new-carpet result, and this project was presented that way. The retained carpet already had pulls along some edges, and the customer understood that those existing conditions could limit the final appearance.

In August 2026, Floors Now completed a focused carpet repair in Kensington, a village within the Town of Berlin. The customer wanted to retain the existing finished-basement carpet. The crew installed 300 square feet of Tahoe 8-pound, 7/16-inch cushion with SpillGuard throughout the approved area, removed affected tack strip that had been set too close to the baseboard, installed 60 linear feet of new tack strip at the proper distance, and restretched approximately 272 square feet of carpet. Fifteen linear feet of vinyl transition completed the adjoining flooring edge. The verified project information does not state why the customer requested new pad, so no cause is inferred.
